As the days get shorter and more grey, this fantastic set of images by Stefanie Chapman really lifts the spirit and reminds us of summer. Having spent most of her life in Germany and Britain Stefanie tells us that a a visit to a Mexican beach town with amazing views over the Pacific Ocean and a sky that almost felt
like it melted into the beautiful turquoise water helped inform these exteriors for a tropical luxury hotel.
I created the scene in 3ds Max and rendered it with V-Ray, using Forest Pack Pro for the vegetation and a little bit of RailClone Pro for the railings.

Next to the colour scheme and caustics of the pool water, the vegetation was of special importance as I wanted a natural and photorealistic feel for my images. While I placed the single deck plants manually, the vegetation to the left and right of the deck area was scattered with Forest Pack Pro.
I created the ground by layering several Forest Pack objects on top of each other, using the same splines, planes and exclusion areas. I scattered spaced out grass on top of dark brown mulch, both of which conveniently came from the Forest Pack library, making it an easy process.
On top of that I distributed some young and short tropical plants, followed by another Forest object that organised all large palm trees. Nearly all plants came from Laubwerk's Plant Kit 7.
