- 2024 in review: Celebrating 25 Years of ITOOSOFT and Looking Ahead
As we close the year, it's the perfect time to look back at the progress we've made over the past 12 months and share a glimpse of just some of the exciting plans shaping up for 2025.
2024 was a significant year for ITOOSOFT as we celebrated our 25th anniversary. From the initial release of ForestPack way back in November 1999, followed by RailClone in 2010 and 3DGarden and ParametricLibrary in 2018, to the present day, we’ve grown into a pillar of the 3D industry. This anniversary offered a unique opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and ask ourselves: What do we want the next 25 years to look like?
Landmarks in 2024
A New Era for ITOOSOFT
This year, iToo Software became ITOOSOFT. Our 25th anniversary inspired us to reflect deeply on who we are as a company, what we mean to our users, and where we’re headed. This reflection led to a bold rebranding initiative that better captures our core values and sets us up for the future. With a refreshed logo, updated product branding, and the first phase of a new website, we are reaffirming our commitment to helping artists achieve their creative visions while staying true to our roots as an independent and user-focused company.
Introducing ForestPack 9: The Ultimate Environment Creation Toolkit
As we reflected on ForestPack’s evolution, we realised it had become, and we intend it to be far more than a single scattering plugin—it is to become a complete ecosystem of tools for environment creation. ForestPack 9 fully embraces this vision with the introduction of ForestIvy, a brand new plugin for generating lifelike climbing plants. ForestPack 9 also made life easier for artists with streamlined UI improvements, advanced distribution controls, and optimized memory management, solidifying its place as the ultimate toolkit for rendering rich, natural environments in 3ds Max.
Staying Ahead with Unmatched Compatibility
In a rapidly evolving industry, maintaining compatibility with the latest tools and technologies is essential. ForestPack continues to lead the way as the most widely compatible scatterer for 3ds Max, supporting most popular render engines including V-Ray and Corona. This year, we were proud to offer seamless integration with all major releases of these renderers, ensuring our users could take full advantage of the latest features. Additionally, we extended support to 3ds Max 2025 and continue to be supported by Unreal Engine through Datasmith.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we step into 2025, ITOOSOFT is gearing up for another year of innovation and growth. Building on the successes of 2024, we’re excited to unveil new developments that will continue to empower 3D artists worldwide. From the release of RailClone 7 to the next phase of our website update, a revamped licensing system, and further enhancements to ForestPack, including expanded features inspired by ForestIvy, the coming year promises to bring tools and improvements designed to make your workflows more efficient and creative than ever.
RailClone 7: Redefining Procedural Modeling
2025 will see the release of RailClone 7, a significant update including a collection of new operators designed to process and manipulate splines directly in the Style Editor. These tools unlock new workflows, such as creating catenary curves for hanging cables and generating procedural roofing systems. For those curious to try the latest features, the beta version is already available, providing an early look at what’s to come.
Phase 2 of Our Website Update
In 2025, we will continue the comprehensive overhaul of our website. This next step focuses on revamping product pages for 3DGarden and ParametricLibraries, support materials, tutorial pages, and documentation to make it easier than ever for users to learn our plugins and access the information they need. We’ll also continue to highlight user successes, showcasing inspiring projects that demonstrate the creative potential of ForestPack and RailClone.
Building on the Success of ForestPack 9
Following its debut in ForestPack 9, ForestIvy will continue to evolve. While its current focus is on climbing plants, future updates will explore ways to support the creation of a broader variety of vegetation. This development is part of our ongoing commitment to making ForestPack the Ultimate Environment Creation Toolkit to help artists create rich, natural environments with ease and precision.
Expanding and Enhancing RailClone Assets
A dedicated team is now focused on expanding and refining the RailClone asset library. In 2025, users can expect updates to existing libraries alongside entirely new collections designed to take advantage of RailClone 7's latest features. These improvements will roll out both with the release of RailClone 7 and as additional updates throughout the year.
Simplifying Licensing for a Better User Experience
In 2025, we are rewriting our licensing system to better align with the needs of modern users. The new system will simplify license management, making it easier to activate, monitor, and update your licenses. Our goal is to streamline the process and enhance how users interact with our tools, for a smoother and more intuitive experience from start to finish.
Looking Forward Together
As we plan for the future, we remain committed to staying connected to the people who rely on our tools every day. If there are features or improvements you’d like to see in ForestPack, RailClone, or any of our plugins, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us an email and help shape the future of ITOOSOFT.
As we wrap up this year, we want to express our gratitude to you - our users, partners, and community - for your continued support and inspiration. Your creativity drives us forward, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish together in the year ahead. From all of us at ITOOSOFT, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
